About Maskwa... The boat name MASKWA is a Cree word for Spirit of the Bear. The bear is an important symbol in the Native American culture for healing and strength in the hunt. The logo on the stern quarter of the boat is designed after the southwestern Native American bear fetishes. Notice the constellation within the logo. It is the big dipper aka the big bear!! The symbols on the stern quarter of the boat represent MASKWA NISO or second MASKWA in Cree script.
