| About Radiance... |
RADIANCE, a Farr 38 was designed by the famed Bruce Farr when he was based in New Zealand in 1978. Radiance was hand built in Rio De'Janero Brazil and was commissioned in 1990. She was sailed up to Chesapeake Bay in 1997, where the current owner (Ben White) purchased her in time for the 2001 Chicago Mackinac Race. Some of the crew of Radiance were members of Ben's previous Radiance crew aboard a classic Sparkman Stevens designed Tartan 30. This first Radiance was a featured boat in the 2000 WTTW production "The Race To Mackinac". That 2000 Mackinac race was Ben's first as a captain and brought this tight knit crew their closest to a podium finish. 4th place. We hope to be on the podium this year! Radiance has competed in the Chicago Mac every successive year since her first entry in 2001. This year will be Radiance's 2nd Bayview Mac.
