| About Voyager... |
Meet Voyager, our Michigan-made 1985 S2 9.1, sailing proudly out of the Detroit Yacht Club. Turning 40 this year, this spirited 29-footer may be compact, but she makes the perfect offshore camping adventure craft. Last year alone, she logged over 1,800 miles traveling the Great Lakes. Over the past five years, she's become our steady steed—introducing kids and new sailors alike to the wonder and challenge of Mackinac races and the Great(est) Lakes. The name Voyager honors the legendary spacecraft launched in the late ’70s—an ambitious mission of exploration and peace. We’re inspired by President Jimmy Carter’s golden record message sent with it: "We hope someday, having solved the problems we face, to join a community of galactic civilizations. This vessel represents our hope and determination, and our good will, in a vast and awesome universe." We race with that same spirit—curious, hopeful, and determined. We also race with a lot of thumping techno, because coffee can only do so much... Live long and prosper, friends
