About Smoke Show... Smoke Show is the IRC optimized JPK 10.80 formally known as "Psycho Tiller" purchased by owner and skipper Jake Thomas in 2023. Three weeks after shipping the boat from San Francisco to his home port in Sandusky, Ohio, Jake would go on to win the 300mile single handed event, the Lake Erie Solo Challenge. For this years Bayveiw to Mackinac race, Jake has put together a diverse team of sailors from around the Great Lakes. Mark McCrindle, our Old Goat from BYC, Andy Camarda from Evolution Sails Chicago who designed the new sail plan, Ryan Kyle from Midwest Yacht Rigging, Dominique DeLano from Michigan State University's Sailing Team and Gavin Webster, the young bowman from Grosse Pointe South Sailing Team. On board we have Wolverines, Sparties and Buckeyes which will lead to some interesting discussions as we head north. While this may be our first Mackinac Race together, we feel we are the wild card on the line and a boat to pay attention to in this years 100th edition of the regatta. We wish for fair winds and safe passage for the entire fleet.
