Comments: Hello, looking for a boat for a mack race. This will most likely be my"offshore" event. I am looking at doing some longer events here in the PNW (PNW offshore & Swiftsure) and some of the California races. I'm a recently graduated college sailor with lots of dinghy experience and keel boats around the buoys. I have my safety at sea (good for 5 years). Would love to talk more about your team!

Position: Foredeck,Mast,Pit,Grinder

Comments: I regularly race on a Trip 33 where I run both the foredeck and mast in most races due to crew issues and I succeed in both positions even under heavy pressure. On the Tripp 33 we race Tuesday nights and the Red Fox Regatta. I also have some bigger boat experience on EPIC out of Bayview Yacht Club. On EPIC I raced the Helly Hansen Sailing World Regatta Series in Detroit and the Bayview to Mackinac race. During both races I learned a lot about bigger boat racing. I would love to talk to any boat that needs help with crew for the race.

Comments: Hello sailing friends! Due to changes in rating for my Mac crew (Courage, GLYC) and my low seniority on my crew, I am in search of a Mac boat for the 2026 sailing season! Please note that I love my crew and will return to them once I am able to, so this is a one season only opportunity (ideally). If you are also doing the Chicago Mac I would love for this year to be my first Chicago so please reach out if you are looking for Chicago crew as well. I started sailing in 2021 as a pandemic hobby and have done 4 Bayview Mac races. 2021 - PepperLove - Pickle Boat 2023 - Courage - 1st in Class 2024 - Courage - 12th in Class 2025 - Courage - 2nd in Class In addition to my Mac experience I have raced with numerous crews in DRYA and ILYA races and regattas throughout the region. Here are a few: WYC Wednesdays - 2021, 2022 (Epic, Bayview Yacht Club; Merak, Cresent Sail Yacht Club) LSSC Wednesdays - 2023, 2024, 2025 (Courage) ILYA Summer Bay, 2022, 2023, Put-In-Bay, Ohio (Reflex, Family Truckster, Go Baby, all out of Grosse Isle Yacht Club) Hitchhiker Thursdays - Bayview Yacht Club (Fast Tango) Mills Race - 2023, 2024 (Family Truckster, Gross Isle Yacht Club Helly Hansen Regatta Detroit - Epic, 2023 DRYA Races - Epic(2021, 2022) Merak (ad-hoc as needed), Courage (2023-2025) I have done this all while working a very intense corporate job and while completing my MBA. I left corporate in April of last year and own two small businesses, and completed my MBA in November of 2025. I also obtained a free sailboat in 2024 and will be restoring it this year and prepping it for local racing. My boat is a 1971 Seafarer Meridian and it is stored at Bayview Yacht Club, where I have been a member since July 2024. If I can do all of that while in grad school, imagine how much I will grow in my sailing experience now that I have more time and energy to devote to sailing! :) Also, I'm an artist and so one soft skill I have is that I can pretty much get along with anyone. I would be an excellent culture fit to any crew, especially a group of sailors who likes to work hard and play hard. I've worked in tech for 20+ years so I'm used to being the only woman on crew. I'm 5'2" 120 lbs so I'm little and fast. Additionally, I learn very quickly and I do not have an ego that makes me think I already know everything there is to know about sailing (I sure as hell don't). I've also done extensive mental training for long-distance racing. I hiked the Grand Canyon from Rim to Rim to Rim (R2R2R) in 2021 with an organization called Climb for Hope. We raised $55K for breast cancer and MS research. I've also hiked Rainbow Mountain in Peru, run 3 half marathons, 24+ 5Ks, 10Ks, 8Ks, etc. and will be summiting Everest Base camp in Fall of 2026. So I'm already in intense training mode and will only be increasing my strength and muscle mass this summer. If you've gotten this far, thank you for reading (I can be a bit long winded LOL). I will be selecting the most competitive crew that I feel is a good fit for my personality and skillset and who I can learn the most from, so please do not hesitate to reach out. I am more than happy to earn my spot but I will be evaluating each skipper and crew on my own set criteria. Please do not reach out if you are looking for rail meat or a pretty face on your crew. While I am a pretty face, I have brains and skills that I would love to add to your crew! Look forward to hearing from you. Cheers, Lacy

Ben Thorsen - 248-730-6382 - bthorsen@gmail.com
Position: All Positions
Experience: Beginner
Comments: Experienced sailor looking for a program to join and contribute to. I can race with you for most of a weeknight series and/or Saturdays, but not necessarily both. As for crewed racing, I have done 10 BYC Macs and 1 Chicago. Besides dingy sailing, I have owned an A-Cat (raced with CRAM), a Wayfarer (raced on Walled Lake), raced lightnings at PYC, have a DN iceboat, and also own a C&C 99, on which I have completed 6 Solo Challenges in the past 3 seasons with GLSS on Lake Huron and Lake Erie (results are on Yachtscoring). I have installed latest gen B&G electronics on my boat and will be converting to Lithium this spring. I'm an engineer by degree, who left the day job at 45 and now have my own thing going which is mostly passive. I'm quite flexible, but do have a family. I am pretty good at most sailing positions on a boat, but not an expert at anything. I enjoy sharing knowledge and ways to do things with smart, fun, and easygoing people... and a cold beverage afterwards.

Comments: I am looking for an opportunity to join a crew for the 2026 season and the Bayview Mackinac Race. While I have never stepped foot on a sailboat, I bring a level of reliability and physical discipline that is hard to find. Why I am a value-add to your crew: Military Discipline - I am a USMC veteran. I understand the importance of a chain of command, punctuality, and performing under pressure without complaint. Physical Condition: I am in great shape and ready to put in the work on the handles or spend hours on the rail. Mechanical Aptitude: I have a strong technical background, a problem solver mindset, and I'd be handy to have around when something inevitably breaks on the water. Zero Ego: I am here to learn. I am a quick study, I take coaching well, and I meld effortlessly into team environments. Committed: I am local to the Thumb/Lexington area and available for weekday practices and weekend deliveries to ensure I am up to speed before the Mac. I am looking for a competitive or cruiser-class crew that needs a strong, dependable "engine" who won't quit when the conditions get rough. I’m happy to earn my spot and handle the grunt work. Let’s talk!

Comments: I’ve done many Mac races, both sides, I’ve won a CYC and I know what it feels like to get that special flag. I’m competitive, I own a Farr 395, but I’m invested elsewhere for the current year, but I want to go press the limits with a crew who wants to do the same. I know the weather, and I know my angles. I’m definitely a great addition to any team (competitive, not one bone in my body will accept it as time away, I want to push) who could use a 38 year old male with thousands of miles on the Great Lakes. I love you all, and I will count on your safe journeys regardless. Yachtzy

Position: Foredeck,Pit,Sewer,Grinder,Jib Trimmer,Main Trimmer,Helm
Experience: Advanced
Comments: I'm a lifelong sailor with extensive Great Lakes offshore sailing experience including 14 BYC and 3 CYC to Mackinac races. Beyond the Macs, I've participated in the Mills Trophy Race, numerous DRYA offshore and buoy races, single handed races and multiple long-distance passages. My experience includes sailing on a range of competitive boats including performance cruiser-racers and fully optimized race boats (i.e., J/109 and J/120s). I'm happy to provide references upon request. While I’ve held nearly every position over the years, my symmetrical kite foredeck experience is very dated. I’m comfortable on the foredeck of asym boats when needed, but my strongest contribution is in spinnaker trim. Bonus: I can arrange a post-race crew dinner at the Mackinac Island Yacht Club if the team is interested.

Position: Foredeck,Mast,Pit,Sewer,Grinder,Jib Trimmer,Main Trimmer
Experience: Beginner
Comments: I've spent the past three years as a charter sailboat operator on West Grand Traverse Bay, sailing in the full range of Great Lakes conditions — from light-air days to heavy weather — giving me consistent, hands-on time at the helm and with guests aboard. I've also raced occasionally with members of the Grand Traverse Yacht Club and plan to do more of that going forward. I'm currently pursuing my U.S. Coast Guard Captain's License, with testing planned for late summer/early fall this year. What draws me to distance racing is a preference for bigger challenges — which is what's driving my interest in the Port Huron to Mackinac Race specifically. Beyond sail, I bring six trips captaining an oar-framed raft through the Grand Canyon, where I made real-time command decisions running sustained whitewater and managed crew and logistics over multi-week wilderness expeditions. That experience in sustained command judgment under demanding conditions is part of what I want to bring to a long-distance offshore race like the Mac.

Comments: Looking for a ride for bayview-mac. I mainly do bow but can fill almost any role on the boat. I do bow on both symmetrical and asymmetrical boats, including but not limited to Melges 32/24, J/70, Hobie 33, T10, soverel 33. I have also sailed on an NA40, Swan 44, and TP52. In addition to my big boat experience I have sailed various dinghies. I worked for a sailmaker for a little while, I can splice and do mechanical work. I am a team player and will work hard, but at the end of the day I want to have fun. I can also help with the delivery after the race.

Positions Needed: All Positions
Experience Desired: Beginner
Comments: Looking for up to two crew, all positions, any experience welcome. GOBLIN is a well-maintained and modernized Catalina 30 racing cruising class — asymmetric kite with dousing sock, furling headsail, upgraded hardware throughout. We sail doublehanded most of the season, so the boat's set up to be easy and forgiving, which makes us a great first distance race for newer sailors (or experienced folks looking to focus more on trim, less on sailchanges). Comfortable boat, good food aboard, safety-minded program, and a fun friendly crew. Out of Edgewater YC. Reach out and let's chat!
